Ideal Lodging for Christmas on the Potomac
The Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor has turned into a veritable all-ages holiday wonderland with the return of Christmas on the Potomac—something any Capital Region traveler this time of year shouldn’t miss!
Kids of all ages—and kids-at-heart, too—will love this epic seasonal installation, which runs through January 1, 2017.
The Centerpiece at National Harbor
Aside from the 55-foot Christmas tree glittering over the Gaylord’s garden atrium, the pinnacle of the Christmas on the Potomac experience is unquestionably ICE!®, a frozen fantasyland of two million pounds of hand-carved ice. This year’s ICE! ® theme is “Christmas Around the World,” offering a globe-spanning celebration of Yuletide spirit—plus two-story ice slides that absolutely no child can resist.
The icy kingdom may be Christmas on the Potomac’s standout feature, but it’s far from the only attraction. There’ll also be gingerbread decorating and Build-A-Bear Workshops in the Christmas Village, train rides on the miniature Potomac Express, the Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt, the Starlight Tree Atrium Show with its light spectacle and water jets, and of course a few photo ops with Santa Claus himself!
Throw in indoor snowfall each and every evening, and the Christmas magic’s just about complete!
